Loved 30 Rock and Community. The X Factor, on the other hand, can bite me. (I'll watch the final sure, but I'll be drinking heavily through it just to cope. Mark my words.)

Why in God's name did I choose to write an essay on Foucault? *SOB* If you never see me again after this moment it's because I've killed myself. FYI.

In television news, my favourite show at the moment is (gasp!) The Vampire Diaries. I can't get enough of it! It's the perfect combination of cheese, sexiness, jokes, frights and vampires. And you know what, forget what I said before about it not being good. I was talking crazy.

And now, in alphabetical order, comments about some of the shows I'm watching:

30 Rock

Best episode ever? Y/Y?

Bored to Death

Hysterical. <3

I am completely obsessed with Jason Schwartzman. This is freaky because I used to hate him, but Jonathan Ames is a deceptively appealing character: guileless, pathetic, and strangely, sleepily sexy, in a way that creeps up on you slowly but surely. Once in his thrall he is irresistible and all I want to do is watch him, laugh at him and imagine kissing him (I know! I told you it was freaky, but JS is actually a really good screen kisser).

Also, watch this stupendous clip:

Kanye's 'Can't Tell Me Nothing' with Zach Galifianakis

Community

spoilers! )

Cougar Town

There's something very wrong with me but I keep downloading this show, watching it and hating it. Okay, it never bores me, but every character needs to kill themselves and I'm not kidding.

Glee

I'm one behind but I enjoyed last week's episode, because Artie is a really great singer (loved "Dancing With Myself") and the club's rendition of "Proud Mary" was totally fierce.

How I Met Your Mother, 5.08: The Playbook )

Smallville, 9.08: Idol )

The X Factor

I've given up on caring about The X Factor although I still half-heartedly watch (without voting!). This is my eternal problem with reality television: the public and their horrible taste and their sexism. I still find it unacceptable that they voted off Miss Frank, and that apparently they think Stacey is both the best female singer and a worthy winner, just because she's amusing. Shit man, I would never buy her album. Her singing is mediocre! Olly better win, and not because he is awesome at singing (he's not) but because he's the best performer by miles. I genuinely understand the dislike of Danyl because he's strangely charmless, but he's the best singer so I hope he at least makes it to the final. That Jedward are the big news this year is a joke.

Been busy, been kinda sick, spent the weekend watching films and TV and doing research on pseudonyms. Some highlights:

- Tom Welling's face and body.

- Fred Armison's guest spot on Parks and Recreation. Homg I haven't laughed that ridiculously much in such a long time.

- SEE YOU LATER RIKKI. You should have been Ethan and if you had been you wouldn't have been voted off. Olly got my vote this week because of his magnificent crotch work. Danyl didn't do it for me at all, but I thought Jamie was amazing. The twins were hilariously bad (and I'm kind of pleased they're coming back because they suck but they're entertaining).

- Christopher Mintz-Plasse in Role Models. I can't stand how cute he is!

- Abed and Troy's friendship on Community. ♥ Also, Joel McHale.

- Bored to Death, which I have picked up, and amazingly I really like all three of the leads, despite finding Ted Danson quite gross and having never cared for Jason Schwartzman. There's just something quite genius about him in this though, and Zach Galifianakis is sublime. This show doesn't tend to make me laugh out loud but I am into it enough to watch the first season.

- Jack and Liz!!!!!!

- The first episode of season 2 of Slings and Arrows. Hello lovely Geoffrey!

- The Shadow of the Wind. I plan to finish this tonight because it is totally excellent.

- Catherine Breillat's latest film which is part of the London Film Festival and I am seeing tonight. I am certain this will be a highlight.

- And on a non-fannish note, my Humanities seminar teacher, who is so gorgeous it is hard to concentrate on what he's saying.

Lowlights:

Cougar Town. Oh God, yes okay, I'm sorry, but I have watched the first four episodes and now I want to kill myself because according to this show all I have to look forward to is being unhealthily obsessed with my appearance. Why am I not watching The Good Wife? What is wrong with me?

Real life has been sucking quite a bit recently but I'm only going to talk about nice things.

~

[info]mahaliem's drabble contest is closed, but if you haven't read them yet you absolutely should because they're all great. Thank you to the one person who voted for mine! :P In case you're wondering, it's this one:

You have your hair cut short like a boy’s one Tuesday afternoon, just for the hell of it. You wonder why part of you hopes he hates it.

“Wow, Lois,” he exclaims when you walk into the office wearing a calf length, steel grey, figure-hugging dress, cinched at the waist with a wide belt, fierce six inch heels, and an expression of nonchalance. “Nice dress.”

You can’t help laughing; he was funnier than he usually is, damn him. Then you catch him grinning at you with an appreciative look in his eyes and you feel relieved, because you’re still special.

My parents are officially 30 Rock fans. I gave them the first season as a present and Mum just emailed me saying:

"Thought you would be pleased to hear that I have just bought the second season."

Yes indeed Mother! This pleases me greatly!

~

Star Trek

I saw it! Liked the film, LOVED Chris Pine's Captain Kirk. Could not get enough of that action. He is funny and sexy and heroic and sexy. If I were to ship anyone it would definitely not be Kirk/Spock (sorry, but I will never find Quinto attractive even though I thought he made a pretty great Spock), and Spock/Uhura is excruciatingly boring, so it's got to be Kirk/Uhura for me. Are there fics?

~

Twilight

Amazingly sexy for a pro-abstinence fable. Examining the subtext in too much depth would probably enrage me, but I found it highly enjoyable. Kristen Stewart is excellent, and while Robert Pattinson might not be the greatest actor on the face of the planet, he's undeniably dreamy. I will not be reading the books, but I imagine I will be seeing the sequel.

~

Veronica Mars, Season 3

I have finished and I really loved it and I can't believe my wonderful show was cancelled so prematurely.

A long time ago we used to be friends... )

~

Finally, I'm 10 episodes into season 2 of T:TSCC and I'm absolutely loving it now. Shirley Manson is just...so awesomely creepy.

I was busy all weekend so haven't seen Smallville or Party Down yet, and when my head isn't so full of cold I may come back and talk about the Dollhouse finale, which I thought was good, although not as good as the previous episode. I'm hoping for renewal but preparing myself for bad news.

While the last few episodes watched (I'm up to about #17) have been pretty poorly written and I'm not quite as impressed with the show as I was in S1, I am sad beyond belief that the show got cancelled because I love Charlie and Dani so much. I still can't get over how well Damian Lewis wears clothes.

~

And now for the obligatory Veronica Mars comment:

We finished season 2 last night and I loved it even more the second time and I really don't understand why anyone would dislike it. So there.

Also, I'm in love with Jason Dohring. Did you know he is doing two shows about people having sex in Washington? One is an HBO show (promising!) called "Washingtonienne", but I suspect his part is tiny; the other is called "Body Politic" and it's on the CW, which means it's probably going to suck. Still. Jason!

Some quick non-spoilery opinions on all the shows I'm watching at the moment:

30 Rock

It's only the best comedy on television! Possibly ever! Not only is the cast uniformly funny and gorgeous, the show continues to tackle actual real life issues (falling in love! Doubting the path you've taken in life! Living in a beauty bubble! Being a woman in a man's world! Being a black man in a white man's world!) with such marvellous wit, affection and self deprecation, if you're not watching your life is not complete.

Bones

When it's not trying too hard to be funny, this show IS pretty funny and enjoyable. The unique, appealing characters generally make up for some of the more dubious plot turns (although not always). It is very sad that I no longer care whether Booth and Brennan get together though.

Damages

Rose Byrne, Glenn Close and Marcia Gay Harden playing powerful, brilliant, complex, fabulous women, who make the male characters on the show look really quite pathetic? HELL YES. I love it *so* hard.

Dollhouse

After the most recent episode, my new favourite? I'm not kidding! I encourage everyone who understandably abandoned this early on to give it a second chance, because if it stays as good as "Man on the Street" it's going to be a truly great, challenging, entertaining TV show.

Flight of the Conchords

The songs might not be quite as good this season but the boys are as fantastically funny as ever. Did I mention that I met Jemaine once? Also I am friends with some people who know someone who used to shag Bret. New Zealand: where we are all one degree of separation away from each other.

Gossip Girl

I think Vanessa is the most gorgeous girl ever, and Nate is an adorable thicky, and everyone else can go to hell.

House

Remains one of the funnest hours of television, even after all these years. I have the most enormous crush on Kutner. When we watched it on Sunday I was all, "I would have sex with him," to the room, because he's such a sexy dork.

How I Met Your Mother

Lie To Me

VERY VERY GOOD AND GETTING BETTER BY THE WEEK. I just love how interesting and educational it is and how unspeakably cute Brendan Hines is.

Lost

I'm a slave to this show - it's ridiculous yet awesome, and I can't wait to find out what happens next.

Smallville

The last episode didn't suck! spoilers )

The United States of Tara

Superb. Actually makes me weepy about once an episode and I mean that in the best possible way.

Dollhouse just got awesome. That was such a great episode of television--smart, different, disturbing, suspenseful and gripping from start to finsih--I can now officially call myself a fan of this show and not feel ashamed. I may return with an actual review at a later date. Now, however, I am off to pour myself another glass of wine and watch House.

Oh, and 30 Rock was pure, beautiful genius.

"Can I keep that?"

"No. It's my only copy."

My plan this weekend is this (and I'm really looking forward to it). See, Kirsty is going skiing and Suz might be around a bit but she'll prolly mostly be at her boyf's and if she is around she won't care what I'm doing. So. It is time. For me to watch. SEASON TWO OF VERONICA MARS. *airpunch*

That's all I'm going to do this weekend, along with eating lots of food, drinking some wine, smoking some weed, perhaps taking a pub break and hanging with Philip for a bit (who, btw, sent me an email this morning saying "30 Rock is the greatest show ever". VICTORY!) and avoiding everyone else's phone calls. So far everyone who has asked me what I'm up to this weekend has gotten this stern response: "I'm busy." I generally don't expand on that because some people don't think "I'm watching an entire season of television" is an acceptable reason to not want to hang out with them. Weird!

Thanks to a conversation I had in [info]butterfly's LJ I decided to download and watch the very last episode of Dawson's Creek. I was never a big fan of the show although I watched off and on throughout its run, and I totes shipped Joey/Pacey, so I was definitely curious to see how it ended.

Is it just me or is season 2 of "How I Met Your Mother" much better than s1? It is killing me with its awesomeness. I even love Ted this season! He's funny! I guess his character just suits being in a relationship or something. I think "Slap Bet" might be the most genius episode I've seen yet. Homg. Porn - wait for it - OGRAPHY. (I need that on an icon.)

~

"Smallville" may suck at the moment, but "30 Rock" was so hysterically funny I nearly injured myself laughing. Oh Alec. ♥ ♥ ♥ I also found John Hamm extremely attractive, which is interesting because he doesn't do it for me (sexually) in "Mad Men". I am starting to wonder if it has something to do with Tina Fey? Because she has such amazing chemistry with all the men she plays opposite - I've enjoyed her relationships with Floyd, Peter Dinklage, John Hamm, and of course, Jack Donaghy. Go Tina!

My weekend was kind of busy and I didn't get a chance to watch all my television. Which means that I have not seen "Smallville" yet (admittedly I was avoiding watching this out of fear, but I'm going to try and see it tonight), nor have I seen "Bones", nor have I seen any more "Veronica Mars", although I did spend most of my downtime thinking about nakey Logan Echols.

I did find time to watch "30 Rock" which was magnificent. Jack and Liz! ♥

And "Damages", which I thought was quite boring.

And "Lost"! God that show is confusing, but at least Jack shaved off his beard.

~

On [info]zephyr9's recommendation I also saw the bittersweet romantic comedy, "Catch and Release" with Jennifer Garner and Timothy Olyphant, and I absolutely loved it. This won't come as much of a surprise to anyone who knows me even a little bit but the thing I enjoy the most in any story is an emotionally (and physically) engaging romance. So not flowers and candy and empty declarations and that shit, but people falling in love with each other in a way that makes me *feel* it. Olyphant and Garner have this understated yet intense chemistry with each other and their courtship has the right blend of eroticism and emotion, so if you love clever, interesting romantic comedies as much as I do then I highly recommend this film.

I was thinking, my love of romance (and also, my preference for television over fanfic) is probably why I'm not much of a slasher - I really like to see it play out in front of me. I want kisses and sex and intentional UST and heartbreak that's canon. I want text, basically. My imagination is good and all, but for me nothing can compare to actually getting to SEE my characters get busy.

Would you guys be interested in a Smallville Character Love community?

If there is enough interest [info]huzzlewhat is going to create this comm, so do let us know.

It's something I would like to see happen in SV fandom because all this negativity is harshing my buzz, man. And like, you don't have to love all the characters to be part of the comm - you just wouldn't be able to express your dislike of Lana or whoever there. And maybe, just maybe, other fans' love of a character you hate might get you to rethink your position? (A girl can dream.)

I'm having a fannish orgasm at the moment - I have fallen so hard for Veronica Mars, both the show and the character, and Logan/Veronica, omg, are the most mind blowing pairing ever and I fantasise about them constantly. I love Logan so much it hurts - I can barely even think about him without wanting to cry, because he's so tragic and even though he's a 'bad boy' he's got a moral code I can get on board with, and he's fascinating and complex, and every time he and Veronica are near each other I go a little bit mental because their chemistry is off the scale, and I adore the dynamic between them, and he just makes the show better by his very presence - I miss him horribly when he's not in it because it's never *quite* as awesome, and when he IS in it I tend to gasp a lot and clutch things and I totally have a lump in my throat as I write this because I love him so hard. And then there's Veronica who is my personal hero because she is brilliant and adorable and brave and smarter than everyone else and Kristin Bell is amazing and. I love this show. It is my happy place. I just watched episode 17 which means I'm nearly done with season one and that is terrifying to me because I'm still torn over whether I will watch the other two seasons because I know they are meant to be sucktastic, but like, I don't know if I can say goodbye to these characters after only one season, especially if I want to write LoVe fic (which I absolutely do) because knowing canon is important, you know? Ack.

~

So my TV character crush list currently goes like this:

BOYS

1. Clark Kent
As ever, Clark tops my list, because he is the ultimate hero and he's also hotter than everyone else on television put together.

2. Logan Echols
Did I mention that I am completely infatuated with him? I think I did but I maybe didn't mention that I find him insanely attractive.

3. Jack Donaghy
Because he is the funniest character on television and he's still utterly gorgeous at fifty.

4. Matt Saracen
Of all the wonderful characters on Friday Night Lights Matt is the one I am the most in love with at the moment.

5. Arthur
Between Arthur and Merlin I find Arthur marginally more attractive - there's just something so deliciously porny about him - which maybe I only think because I wrote a lot of porn about him not long ago, but whatever, he does it for me.

Other contenders: Vincent Chase, Ari Gold, Tim Riggins, Coach Taylor, Nate Archibald, Michael Scofield, Greg House, Andy Botwin, Seeley Booth, Alex Mahone

GIRLS

1. Lois Lane
Possibly my favourite ever female character. She's tough, smart, driven, loyal, vulnerable, funny, painfully beautiful, and she has an incredible body. GUH.

2. Veronica Mars
Did I mention that I love Veronica? Yes? Well it's worth repeating anyway. I LOVE HER. ♥

3. Liz Lemon
Never has a big nerd been so fucking cool and sexy. I would totally marry her.

4. Tess Mercer
We haven't seen nearly enough of her but the thing about Tess is that I find her so physically attractive she could be talking in Swahili and I would still be a little bit in love with her.

5. Morgana
She is strong-willed, fiercely principled and ferociously hot. Want.

ETA. 6. BUFFY. I forgot to include her but she is the best. Obviously.

Other contenders: Six, Tami Taylor, Vanessa Abrams, Blair Waldorf, Lyla Garrity, Betty Draper, Joan Holloway, Rose Baker, Sara Tancredi, Debra Morgan, Nancy Botwin, Temperence Brennan

Tell me who's currently on your list!

I'm all: tired

I admit it, I spent a bit of time last night watching Bradley and Colin youtube clips. I had no idea Colin Morgan was Irish (despite the clue in his name). Surprisingly I have developed rather a large crush on Bradley James. He's not even my type! I blame his torso. And his gorgeously posh accent. And his hair. Oh, and his teeth. And his sense of humour. ♥

~

Friday Night Lights is killing me with its awesomeness this season. This is controversial but I think I might love season 3 even more than season 1.

~

I find Logan Echols very attractive even though he's funny looking. (I'm up to episode 11 or 12 now and omg. I LOVE THIS SHOW SO HARD.)

~

Episode 1 of S2 of Damages was good! William Hurt and Timothy Oliphant are very welcome additions to the cast (especially Timothy because he's fucking hot), and I'm delighted to see the return of Zeljko Ivanek as a ghost.

~

30 Rock. How is Peter Dinklage so hot? I've always been prejudiced against dwarves but clearly that was wrong of me. Thanks, Peter, for showing me the error of my ways.

I was reading this Alec Baldwin interview and wanted to quickly talk about this question:

Durham, N.C.: Alec, I am a huge fan of "30 Rock." Best show on television. And you probably get this questions all the time, but do you think Jack and Liz will hook up?

Alec Baldwin: I sincerely doubt it, and I think the show is better off that way. Once they cross that line, all the tension goes out of those relationships. And I think the lesson we learned about both those characters is that they are married to their jobs and they are married to their work.

*HEARTS* What I love about Alec's answer is that it proves that he and Tina are well aware that they have the most awesomely electric sexual chemistry and that they don't want to mess with that. Because I am totally fine with them never hooking up on the show because their relationship is perfect the way it is. Okay I'd like them to hook up in the last ever episode or something, although I would prefer there to never be a last ever episode. It should go on forever or until we all die.

~

Charlie's feud with the neighbour cat continues. I actually really need to make a movie of them fighting through the kitchen door because it's quite incredible to watch, especially when they try to attack each other. See the problem is, this other cat thinks he is in charge of our balcony and he'll often sit on the ledge separating our place and the neighbour's place, guarding the balcony, and just watching Charlie, who can't do anything other than stare back at him, growling. When I do let Charlie out, they usually end up scrapping, and now Charlie is a bit terrified of going outside because the other cat is bigger and more arrogant than him. I have this beautiful dream that they will one day become the best of friends, but when I suggested this to Kirsty she was all, "Yes! And then after that, world peace." Which wasn't a very nice thing to say.

Recent things that have made me happy:

1. "30 Rock", Tina Fey, Alec Baldwin, Jack and Liz and how they are BFFs who TOTALLY WANT TO SHAG EACH OTHER.

2. CLOIS. <3 <3 <3

3. Abyss (I'm sorry but I liked it! And I liked what Clark did! And I like Chloe again, finally!!!)

4. "Ghost Town". It was funny AND moving: my favourite combination. Any film with this much heart is a winner, afaic.

5. "Friday Night Lights". Oh my God I love this season. ♥ ♥ ♥

6. Fish finger sandwiches. The easiest thing ever to make and always delicious. Always.

7. Charlie! I need to picspam him again, because he's the best cat of all time. He went outside for the first time on Friday and I was so proud of him. Within five minutes the ginormous neighbourhood cat, who has been feuding with Charlie through our (glass) kitchen door, turns up on the balcony and Charlie instantly pounds towards him and jumps on his head. The enemy cat looked *so surprised* it was genius. Clearly he was not expecting Charlie to ever actually be let loose on him. Then he slunk off, defeated and embarrassed. \o/

8. Alexandra's performance on Saturday's X Factor.

9. Leona Lewis's cover of Snow Patrol's "Run".

Recent things that have annoyed me:

1. This post. A WORLD OF NO. (ETA. Screening the comments every time you're not around to answer them is rampantly stupid and does not make you look like less of a dick, fyi.)

2. Louis Walsh. Get the fuck off my television. I used to like you but now I really don't. Also, when you say to Eoghan (every fucking week) that he'll be in the final, and then you say the same thing to Diana, the whole world is thinking, "And what about JLS, asshat? You know, *the group you mentor*?"

3. Eoghan Quigg. *stabs*

There are probably episodes of television that I should be talking about (the latest Bones! Was good! I really liked it!) but instead I am going to post about a bunch of things I saw whilst on the plane to Dubai or in my hotel room. Sorry.

27 Dresses

Katherine Heigl is charming enough to make bog standard material enjoyable and I found James Marsden quite attractive for the first time. Which means that I can recommend this as long as you enjoy romantic comedies and your expectations are relatively low.

Made of Honor

I made it through five minutes of this film before I remembered that Patrick Dempsey is pure evil. His appeal is entirely lost on me and I think everyone who likes him is weird. So then I was all, what the hell am I going to watch next? I am running out of wedding themed movies, OH NOES. Hence:

What Happens In Vegas

I LOVED IT OKAY. I LOVED IT. And I don’t even like Cameron Diaz or Ashton Kutcher, which makes me wonder if I had plane fever, but honestly, I thought this was really underrated – it made me laugh out loud a lot, the two leads looked utterly beautiful and bounced off each other brilliantly, and the supporting players were ~*~hilarious~*~. I am now completely smitten with Lake Bell (who really didn’t shine when she was in Boston Legal), and I want her to star in her own film where she is allowed to be gorgeous and funny and awesome. Maybe you will tell me I should be embarrassed about loving this movie so much but screw you I am buying it on DVD as soon as possible.

Samantha Who

I found this surprisingly funny although Christina Applegate’s Rachel impression freaked me out at first. Seriously, her timing and delivery is classic Jennifer Anniston, which is not the worst thing in the world because she pulls it off.

The New Adventures of Old Christine

Oh how the mighty have fallen. I adore Julia Louis-Dreyfus but the best thing I can say about this is that it's not bad (it's not good either, just so we're clear).

In Treatment

I think I need to see more of this show. I was irritated at first but by the time the credits rolled I was almost intrigued.

John from Cincinnati

What in the name of? I have no idea.

Some of the Emmys

WOO HOO 30 ROCK WOOOOOOOOOOOO HOOOOOOOOOOOOOO. (Also, woo hoo Mad Men woo hoo!)

Speaking of 30 Rock, I finally saw the promo my flist is going on about and GUH. Jack and Liz could not be more madly in love with each other you guys. IT IS TRUE LOVE. <3 <3 <3 <3

I watched the original Stepford Wives for the first time on the weekend and it really freaked me out. The message: men are scum-sucking, shallow, evil fuckheads! Oh, and women are awesome but no matter what, they will be oppressed. GOOD TIMES.

~

Anyway! Tell me about your TV plans for the next season. Are you giving anything up? Picking up something new?

My plans are as follows:

30 Rock: CAN'T WAIT FOR S3. WILL NEVER GIVE UP. (Although if Alec leaves the show I may stop loving it as hard as I currently do.)

Battlestar Galactica: I just don't really care about this show anymore. I still have two episodes to watch and the thought of doing so feels more like a chore than fun, which is not ideal. The other day I made my flatmate Kirsty watch the pilot and it was weird to see how fucking GOOD BSG was in its first year. Just so human and chilling and clever, and now it's pretty much nonsense with a side of mumbo-jumbo. I really miss the plan. Was there ever a plan? If so, what exactly was it?

Bones: Even though this is a Pretty Good but not Brilliant procedural, I'm too enamoured with all the characters to give up Bones any time soon, and I'm actually quite excited about who they will replace Zach with. They haven't failed me yet with their casting so I'm expecting it to be someone totally awesome.

Entourage: I'm finally caught up! Last season was a bit hit and miss for me (too much horribly annoying director dude for my liking) but I love Ari so much I want to take him home with me and lock him in my closet. Then there is Vince, who is almost too attractive to be real.

Friday Night Lights: I'm nervous, to say the least, but this is probably the show I'm most invested in after 30 Rock, so I've got my fingers crossed that they will match the quality of season one.

Gossip Girl: Pretty, dumb and funner than Disney Land. Let's hope it doesn't go down the same road of shite the OC did.

House: I'm kind of over it, but I love House, Cuddy and Wilson enough to keep watching.

The L Word: Last season!! :*( This is a show I'm going to miss a whole lot when it's over. I hope the gods of television replace it with another female-centric show because we'll need it.

Mad Men: GUH. Fucking amazing, amazing, mind-blowing, spectacularly different and freaky and important and just. YES. Am very much looking forward to the next season of this show, because S1 was one of the most remarkable things to happen to TV last year.

Smallville: Ah, the big question. Will I watch the last season? (It is the last season right?! If they do more after S8 I shall be very put out.) As I said to Boppy the other day, I will probably give it a go if certain of you tell me it's really good, but otherwise I can't see myself bothering. So. Verdict unknown!

Weeds: Absolutely will keep watching, although I don't really know where they're going to go with it now. I love it but I also have a funny feeling it's on its last legs.

~

I usually add new things to my viewing list each year but I won't know what until they've started. Probably won't pick Prison Break up again, even though Sara is back in the fold; I was tired of the formula by the end of season 2 and haven't the energy to start watching again. But if anyone else is and Sara and Michael actually get together (and by together I mean they DO IT) then please let me know so I can download at least that one episode.

I will, of course, be watching Dollhouse when it starts in January. God I hope it doesn't suck.

A weird and delightful thing happened to me last night. I was lounging on the couch watching random season one 30 Rock episodes, as you do, and I got to the episode "The Rural Juror" and -- and you're not going to believe this -- I realised within a minute or two that-

HAHAHA. OMG.

I realised that I had ~*~AHEM~*~ never seen it before.

LOLZ.

So I think what must have happened is this: when I was first watching the dvds in order I got confused and skipped it because The Rural Juror is something that had been mentioned in a couple of other episodes so I guess I thought I'd already seen it! I am awesome. Just when I thought I had no new episodes of my favourite show to watch, BAM! I totally did and it was brilliant.

~

I am now going to tell you all about the results of yesterday's poll, because it is interesting:

45.1% of us feel disappointed when someone we like and respect is mean about something we love.
25.4% feel annoyed! (Hilariously I have almost certainly dissed something you love in this very journal, because I hate most of the things fandom thinks are great. To those of you that like and respect me, SORRY ABOUT THAT. /not really)
14.1% are amused, clearly because they know they have superior taste and that everyone else is just being silly.
12.7%, quite sensibly, don't give a rat's ass what their friends think.

YAY TINA FEY. She cleaned up in the hottest lady category with 40.3% of the vote. Lena Heady was next with 33.9%, and I guess I can understand that because I watched the pilot of the Sarah Whatsit Chronicles the other day (it sucks) and thought she was quite foxy. Jennifer Beals is better though, so I don't understand why she got fewer votes. Whatever. Only 4.8% of you like Ellen Page best, probably the chan fans on my flist? /kidding

Thank God you people understand that Singin' in the Rain is the best musical! But I really can't forgive you for voting Grease and Sound of Music as better than West Side Story. Just no.

63.2% of us prefer savoury food, and not that many people on my flist read porn anymore, including myself. Those that did rec me stories, thank you! I will be avoiding all SPN and SGA recs but the rest I shall look at.

We agree with gay men everywhere and find Jake Gyllenhaal the hottest dude.

Best of all, most people on my flist ship Bruce and Dick! LOL ILU ALL. A staggering 47.8% of you think Dick brings out the best in Bruce when it comes to sexin. 26.9% believe he is the very best (I am totally on board with you), 7.5% think he is inexperienced but a natural, and 17.9% of you are big spoilsports who think he's Not Good (you lot are all fired).

Ah, I'm so proud right now! Lex CLEANED UP in the most difficult portion of the poll with an impressive 40% of the votes. Next came the delicious Tony Stark (well played, flist. RDJ is hotter than fire) and then -- with far fewer votes than expected -- came Dean Winchester with only 12.9% (stop calling girls bitches, Dean! This is the price you pay). My lovely Dick Grayson came next, with 10%, and then Seeley Booth with 7.1%. No one likes Lee the most, but I don't think he should take that personally - he was up against some stiff competition. OOH ER!

I am also very pleased with how the girls did. Six and Lois tied for first place, each with 21.2% of the vote. YAY. They were my two first choices and they both deserve it. Lisa Cuddy is the next most favourite - naturally. Rose came last, but at least she got one vote right?

[info]sadface three weeks ago:

I don't think I like 30 Rock, every one except Alec Baldwin annoys me :( and his character annoys me as a person.

I WILL KEEP WATCHING THOUGH, I'm only on episode 4.

[info]sadface yesterday:

30 ROCK GREW ON ME AND I AM NOW UP TO DATE HAVING WATCHED IT CONTINOUSLY.

ILIT. IL EVERYTHING ABOUT IT. IL EVERY CHARACTER. <3 <3 <3

VICTORY!

I also saw the first six or so episodes of "How I Met Your Mother" which I like mostly because of Neil Patrick Harris, but also because of the others (except the main dude who has not grown on me yet).

COME DO THIS AWESOME POLL...  )

Secondly! For [info]slodwick and everyone else who was not sold on the 30 Rock pilot (YES, SLOD, I AM STILL WOUNDED *GLARES*):

Kate: i can't believe slodwick doesn't like 30 rock
Melissa: seriously?!
Kate: she said she "hated" the pilot!
Kate: i actually would have thought it would be right up her alley.
Melissa: hmmm well the show did take a while to warm up
Kate: but to *hate* the pilot?
Kate: still, I think she should watch more
Kate: because it does just keep getting more and more awesome
Melissa: yes
Melissa: I think though that a lot of people were really lukewarm on the pilot
Kate: yeah
Kate: i liked it, but I can see why it didn't hook everyone
Melissa: like Entertainment Weekly and a bunch of other magazines were saying that Studio 60 was better and that 30 Rock was lame until about 5 episodes in, when everyone rightly changed their tune to 30 Rock being genius and Studio 60 being completely retarded
Kate: ah ok
Kate: well maybe I will tell people they need to give it more of a chance
Melissa: yeah
Kate: i'm sure even Tracy will grow on her
Melissa: because actually I remember watching the pilot online and deciding not to watch the show
Kate: oh rly?
Melissa: yeah
Melissa: and now it's pretty much my favorite show
Kate: oh me too. By far.
Kate: there's nothing I love, enjoy and respect as much on tv right now.

I'm all: pleased

A few days ago I got friended on facebook by someone with the same name as me (I friended her back of course), and then today I got invited to join a group of all the people with my name and there are now 14 members! Apparently we are "legendary" and we have "graced the world with our presence" and "life just wouldn't be the same without us". LOL.

[info]circe_tigana and [info]blythely: is my CV ready to be used as is or are you still slaving over it and making it awesome?

~

On Saturday night I was at this party and I ended up talking about Battlestar Galactica with two other fans. Random! Now, I don't participate in the fandom at all other than reading [info]bop_radar's reviews, so I have no idea what sort of speculation there is with regards to the final cylon and stuff like that (also, I don't really approach television in this way. I pretty much never bother trying to predict what's going to happen because a) when I do I'm always wrong, b) it's not in my nature. I prefer to take each episode as it comes), but it was totally fun hearing what one of these dudes reckons, and I think his theory is a good one.

Cut for wild speculation. )

I’m not quite the SV fangirl I once was although I’m still watching (and often enjoying) and I still think Tom Welling is unspeakably hot and I still think Clex is the greatest pairing fandom has ever seen, but my focus is sort of on other, smaller things at the moment, which I will now list:

Kate’s Current Top 5 Fan Related Obsessions:

  1. 30 Rock. This show is perfect. There is not one single thing about it that I don’t love with all my heart.

  2. Jack/Liz. My favourite thing about 30 Rock (and that’s saying a LOT) are these two characters both separately and as a super awesome, funny and sexy OTP. The gods of television really came through for me with these two, and I have actually surprised myself with the rather intense attraction I now have for Alec Baldwin, who is old enough to be my dad but I don’t even care – he’s fabulously attractive and possibly the funniest person on the planet.

  3. James McAvoy. My love/lust for this dude is bordering on embarrassing. I don’t normally get so fannish about an actor that I’ll watch anything they’re in (I’m normally more fannish about characters than actors) but McAvoy is the exception (I really enjoy calling him by his last name for some reason). I rented State of Play simply because of him and I watched the first episode the other day and was *actively annoyed* that he wasn’t in it. But then it was all okay because he was in the second episode that I watched last night and sexy as ever. It was shameful: every time he was onscreen I said something like, “HE’S SO GORGEOUS,” or “I LOVE HIM SO MUCH,” which made Kirsty laugh, but she was of course, forced to agree with me wholeheartedly after he kept smiling at us.

  4. Bones/Booth OTP. Separately they are both very hot, together they are SCORCHING.

  5. Hmm. Well I’m pretty freaking excited about the new Gossip Girl which I will be watching tonight. Lily! Rufus! Lily/Rufus! Chuck! Blair! The others. It’s going to be a pure pleasure injection and I cannae wait.

What are yours?

I just heard on the radio that z-lister Keri Katona has gone into labour. She’s expecting a boy, who she’s going to call Max. After her PUBLICIST, Max Clifford. HAHAHA.

That may be the lamest thing I’ve heard all day, and I've already heard about bandom imploding over that Wentz guy’s impending nuptials. It’s like a tidal wave of lame!
