Okay, I just finished reading a rather distressing article about the character of Zach, on Heroes, who, according to NBC is apparently NOT gay after all. The article covers all the reasons why this news is both surprising and unsettling, and even though I'm not a gay teenager who might have identified with Zach, I *am* a fan of the show and I *was* pleased to see a gay character whose homosexuality was subtly commented on without it being a big deal. WTF HEROES? So a show becomes hugely popular and suddenly it can't be edgy anymore? Are gay teenagers seriously still edgy characters anyway? I cannot think of a single good reason to backtrack on Zach's character development like this, given that the show has not suffered in any way shape or form by portraying him as gay. I'm confused and pissed off about this. So much for continuity being one of Heroes' great strengths.
